In case of opening the Turkish-Armenian border and the resumption of
diplomatic relations between Ankara and Yerevan Armenia would not be
a major beneficiary. said political analyst Zardusht Alizade.

The diplomatic clearance of what exists in reality, namely, human,
scientific, sports and, above all, economic cooperation with Turkey,
would not have a particular benefit for Yerevan. Perhaps, it would
benefit politically, but, in fact, not any progress would occur in
all the rest issues, because Armenia is by definition not able to
become a transit country, without the normalization of relations with
Azerbaijan. And this will happen only if they settle Karabakh issue",
he said

Commenting on the Armenian side claims that Turkey, at a certain
stage, specifically sought to ease relations with Armenia, and then,
having reached its goal radically changed its policy, the political
scientist pointed out that "in the first place, there is nothing
eternal in politics".

"And the fact that the position change is quite natural and we do not
need to explain Armenians that they have to be realistic. Probably,
during the negotiations, Turkey took the stand without linking
Karabakh with the opening of borders, but the situation has changed,
and perhaps in Armenia is not naive to understand that a strong
information and diplomatic pressure on Turkey by Azerbaijan came not
from the Azerbaijani authorities, but via Russia, Moscow, of course,
could not say Armenia – do not open borders, otherwise it would have
to compensate for all losses incurred by Yerevan from the status
quo. Russia through Azerbaijan has made a change in the positions of
Turkey", said Z. Alizadeh.

The political scientist expressed confidence that in case of a victory
the party led by Tayirom Rejep Erdogan at the next parliamentary
elections to be held in Turkey in September 2010, the prime minister
"in spite of any political games will legally formalize what already
exists in reality , i.e., economic, scientific, sports cooperation
with Armenia".

"In principle, I think that Armenia as a country that thinks about
its future must not grudge against Turkey, but begin revising their
position, totally nonconstructive and counterproductive, causing huge
damage to the Armenian people and the future of Armenia", emphasized
Z. Alizade.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
