ARMENIAN-BELGIAN BUSINESS CONFERENCE CONDUCTED IN YEREVAN

Armenian and Belgian businessmen will cooperate in a number of
spheres, consolidate the business ties established previously. This
opportunity will be given to them by the two-day Armenian-Belgian
business conference which kicked off today in Yerevan. Belgian
delegation which consisted of Belgian ambassador to Armenia Charles
Gislen, economic and trade attach? Ivan Korsak and representatives
of 11 companies is headed by general director of Valonia province’s
foreign trade and investments agency Fillip Syune. The participants
of the conference discuss trade issues and opportunities of expansion
of investment programs.
The director of the Armenian Development Agency Robert Harutyunian said
that the business relations between the two countries are gradually
developing. The businessmen of the two countries will cooperate in
the spheres of processed agricultural products, chemical products,
pharmacy, information technology. I. Korsak said that a working
document has been formed which will let to orient in what spheres
the cooperation between the businessmen of the two countries will be
effective. In 2008 the trade turnover between Armenia and Belgium
reached 18 million 625,000 USD 9.1 million of which export and
9.5 million import. The direct investments of Belgium in Armenia
amounted to 3.6 million USD which is 2.5% more as compared with the
2007. This is the second Armenian-Belgian conference: the previous
one was conducted in 2008.
