The Dashnaktsutyun candidate for Mayor, Artsvik Minasyan and the
representative of the Dashnaktsutyun Supreme Body, Armen Rustamyan,
on May 26, stated that they reach the same complaints, which the
Armenian National Congress voices too. Armen Rustamyan stated though
that there are no proofs that youths are being sent home from the
army to vote for the governmental candidate.

Besides, Armen Rustamyan touched upon the problem of stamping
the ballots, which the HAK brought up. The Dashnaktsutyun stated
that it would be good to stamp the ballots but the law supposes it
only in case of state elections but not of the local administration
elections. Armen Rustamyan stated that people rendered the elections
a business, dwelling on the electoral bribes, adding that after the
elections complaints about money are being heard.

Armen Rustamyan stated that there are no new ways for rigging the
election. The reporters asked whether the Dashnaktsutyun considers
itself responsible for the electoral breaches, which took place when
the party was a part of the government. Armen Rustamyan stated that the
Dashnaktsutyun considers itself responsible for 1/8 percent because it
has always been represented in the commissions as 1 against 8. Artsvik
Minasyan stated that people give little to the Dashnaktsutyun, but
they demand very much. According to the Yerevan Mayor candidate,
it is not just.

As to the post-election behavior, they stated that in case there are
breaches, the Dashnaktsutyun will first study them and discuss. If
they are grounded and the party has enough facts, they will surely
appeal to the court. But, as Armen Rustamyan stated it is early to
speak about it. The election will take place and they will dwell on
it more concretely.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
