During today’s session, the NA ad hoc committee leading the
investigation into the events of March 1 decided to appeal to Serzh
Sargsyan for declaring amnesty.
During the session, ARF MP Artsvik Minasyan presented the four-point
political document compiled by him and Prosperous Armenia MP Naira
Zohrabyan, which has turned into the topic of the committee’s
discussion.
It is proposed that there is a need to apply amnesty for those deprived
of their liberty on March 1.
According to the document, amnesty should also be declared for those
charged with the "Case of Seven", NA Deputy Khachatur Sukiasyan and
editor-in-chief of "Haykakan Zhamanak" Nikol Pashinyan.
"We also refer to the PACE Resolutions which called on the Armenian
authorities to apply all possible legal mechanisms and the need
for political solutions in separate cases, including amnesty," said
Artsvik Minasyan.
The document proposed not declaring amnesty for murderers. The
committee members were interested in knowing whom Minasyan referred
to and he replied that there may be people guilty of murders before
the preliminary inquiry.
Participants of the session made proposals regarding the document,
yet leader of the "New Times" party Aram Karapetyan did not approve it.
