AYATOLLAH KHAMENEI ISSUED DECREE FOR LAUNCHING INVESTIGATION INTO ELECTORAL WRONGDOINGS

Interior Ministry has declared illegal the meeting to be held today
by supporters of defeating candidate Mir Hossein Mossavi. Interior
Ministry announced there was no permission for a meeting, said the
report. Pro-Mussavi newspapers called on people to go on a national
strike. According to Ghalamnews, people in Tehran and 19 other towns
will hold peace marches today; national strike will start tomorrow.
Iran’s Interior Ministry has published official data on voting
outcomes, newsru.co.il reports. According such data, candidate-reformer
Mir-Hossein ranked as top candidate in Tehran, having received 300.000
more votes than did hsi conservative rival Ahmadinejad. However,
Mousavi’s proponents question the fact as they believe their candidate
should have received more votes in capital town. According to official
results published by Iranian CEC, winner in presidential elections
is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, with 62.6% of votes. Mir-Hossein Mousavi,
with his 33.7%, comes next, followed by Mohsen Rezai (1.7%) and
Mehdi Karrubi (0.85%). Reliability of voting results in Tavriz,
Moussavi’s birthplace, is also questionable. According to police
data, Ahmadinejad received twice more votes in this town than did
his main rival. In the meantime, Ayatollah Khamenei issued decree to
start investigation into electoral wrongdoings, Iranian Public TV
reports. A file titled "True Election Results" has been posted on
the Internet, with a link to certain employees of Iranian CEC. The
release shows the following rating: Mousavi – about 45%, Karrubi –
about 30%. Ahmadinejad – about 13% and Rezai – 12%. If such results
were true, reformers Mousavi and Karrubi would run for a second term,
and one of them would become Iran’s new President.
