ArmInfo. Syria welcomes the steps to normalize Armenian-Turkish
relations, President of Syria Bashar al-Assad said during his joint
press-conference with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today.

Al-Assad said that Syria was ready to help Armenia and Turkey to
improve their relations. Syria enjoys close relations with both
countries and is ready to support them in the matter.

Al-Assad expressed hope that the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process would
not be complicated. Next month al-Assad is going to visit Azerbaijan
and therefore he has asked Sargsyan to express his position on
the issue.

Al-Assad thanked Sargsyan for his invitation and said that he would
be glad to receive him in Syria.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
