ARMENIA REGISTERS PROGRESS IN COMBATING TRAFFICKING IN HUMAN BEINGS

YEREVAN, JUNE 18, ARMENPRESS: During 2008-2009 Armenia has conducted
notable steps towards the promotion of fighting against trafficking
in human beings, increase of efficiency of preventive events and
organization of support to people suffered from this crime.
Media relations department of Armenian foreign ministry told Armenpress
that the state has conducted corresponding steps towards the increase
of the state financing in this sphere including the rehabilitation
center of support to the victims of trafficking.
The registered progress in combating the phenomenon which is considered
to be the evil of 21st century found its reflection in the annual
report on Trafficking in Human Beings issued 16 June 2009 by the USA
State Secretariat in which refer is made to the situation established
in different states of the world and corresponding steps of the states
towards these type of crimes.
Taking into account the steps undertaken by Armenia towards such
directions of trafficking combating as the criminal pursuit,
protection and prevention the Republic of Armenia has been ranked
among the second group states after being in the special oversight
list of the second group for four years long.
Armenia is committed to more efficiently implement the international
commitments assumed in this sphere making the protection of rights
of the citizens and victims of trafficking holistic in all the aspects.
