The transit of natural gas from Russia to Armenia across Georgia,
suspended on June 16 over repairs on the North-South mainline, was
restarted on Sunday morning, Tamara Shoshiashvili, spokesperson for
the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation, told Interfax.

"A rusty 3.6 kilometer-long stretch of the pipeline in the Gardabani
district has taken five days to be replaced," she said.

"The repair work was done by the New Energy-Tbilisi-Sakhydro Georgian
company – the winner in an international tender, under the second phase
of rehabilitation of the North-South gas pipeline," Shoshiashvili said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
