/PanARMENIAN.Net/ "Authorities were so firm in their statements on
amnesty bearing no relationship to March 1 case, that even Europe
believed them. And now Hovik Abrahamhyan heads PACE delegation just
to show vividly that amnesty puts an end to March 1, 2008 incidents,"
ANC member Hovhannes Igityan, ex-Chairman of RA delegation in PACE,
told a press conference.

The politician is convinced that Europe views matters from a more
global standpoint. "Europe’s Council is more focused on the fact of
people’s being persecuted for political views, no matter whether they
are still in prison or have been released," he noted.

According to him, the case should have been dismissed for the lack of
evidence, so that innocent people wouldn’t have been kept in prison
for over 18 months.

"If PACE postpones hearings on Armenia till September 23-24,
authorities will have to release some detainees by that time,"
Igityan stated.
