ARMENIAN, BRITISH INVENTORS DEVELOP DIGITAL MUSIC CHARACTERIZATION SYSTEM

GENEVA, June 24 — Avet Manukyan, Armenia, and Vartan Sarkissian,
Great Britain, have developed systems and methods for characterizing,
selecting, and recommending digital music.

According to an abstract posted by the World Intellectual Property
Organization, the present inventions relate to "systems and methods
for characterizing, selecting, and recommending digital music and
content to users. More particularly, the present invention discloses
a song recommendation engine which uses mathematical algorithms to
analyze digital music compositions for determining characteristics of
the song, matching the analysis to a user’s tastes and preferences,
and recommending a song based on relative comparability of a user’s
desired musical characteristics." The invention carries International
Patent Publication No. WO/2009/074871 on June 18. The original
patent was filed in Armenia and Great Britain under application
No. PCT/IB2008/003723 on July 7, 2008. It is available at:
