/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The delegation of the International Federation
for Human Rights (FIDH) headed by its President Souhayr Belhassen
intends to visit recently detained the civil rights advocate Arshaluis
Hakobyan, Mr. Antoine Bernard, chief executive of FIDH told a news
conference today. Mr. Antoine Bernard positively spoke about this
opportunity of visiting prisoners as opposed to some other countries,
where it would not be possible.

Member of the Helsinki Association and a photo journalist for the
same organization, Arshaluis Hakobyan took part in the City Council
elections on May 31 as an observer and he was accused of article 316
part 1 of the Criminal Code of RA for "resistance to authorities".

He was detained for expressing protests against hampering the work
of observers during elections. The human rights activist refused to
fulfill requirements of policemen, entered his house on June 5 and
called him to follow without submission of relevant documents.
