COOPERATION MEMORANDUM TO BE SIGNED BETWEEN ARMENIAN AND SYRIAN WRITERS’ UNION

YEREVAN, JULY 1, ARMENPRESS: Within the frameworks of Syrian culture
days held in Armenia, today the Armenian Culture Ministry and the
Embassy of Syria to Armenia organized a meeting with a group of Syrian
art and literature figures who are in Yerevan.
Addressing to the invited guests the head of the Armenian Writers’
Union Levon Ananyan stressed the importance of the circumstance
the visit of the arts figures was preceded by the visit of Syrian
President Bashar al Asad to Armenia which is an important event in
the Armenian Syrian relations.
L. Ananyan did not consider it accidental that Syria has a community
of Armenian writers the literary world of which is rather active
and the members of which maintain close links with the literature of
the homeland and assist mutual enrichment of the literature of the
two states.
In his turn the Deputy Syrian Culture Minister Mohammad torky as-Sayed
welcomed the Armenian writers conveying the greetings of the Syrian
Writers’ Union who was absent at the meeting.
"The fact that our delegation also involves Armenian authors proves
that we evaluate the Armenians of our state and their activity," he
said also stressing the importance of the Syrian President Bashar al
Asad’s visit to Armenia.
