Hayastan All-Armenian Fund in collaboration with Yerevan State Medical
University delivers improved healthcare to Rural Armenia: HyeBridge
Telehealth provides a better quality of life for all Armenians through
faster, more effective healthcare
Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is excited to announce the launch of HyeBridge
TelehealthT, a new healthcare program delivering rural Armenian communities
faster and improved access to higher quality healthcare, which is sponsored
by the Fund’s US Eastern Region Affiliate. Using Internet-based
technologies, the program offers continuous medical education to local
healthcare providers and diagnostic and treatment services to patients.
The program features a specially-designed education website,
teleconsultations using iConsult from iCons in Medicine, and a Polycom
videoconferencing network linking seven Tavush hospitals and health centers
with Yerevan State Medical University.
The program enables local healthcare providers to:
. Access a full database of education modules, created by faculty at Yerevan
State Medical University, and other critical learning resources, for
continuing medical education purposes;
. Consult the latest medical journals and articles via a subscription to
Ovid Technologies, a leading provider of electronic medical, scientific, and
academic research information solutions that includes hundreds of databases,
more than , journals, and books from dozens of publishers; and
. Conduct diagnostic and educational, "grand round" sessions virtually with
doctors in Yerevan and/or a network of U.S.-based physicians.
"The goal of our new telehealth program is simple," said Irina Lazarian –
"to improve the health and quality of life for thousands of rural Armenians.
We are excited to deliver faster access to the most up-to-date medical
information available. But more importantly, this program will bring high
quality healthcare services to patients who might not otherwise receive
them."
In addition to Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia Fund USA is
collaborating with a host of other organizations. Polycom, Inc, Karabakh
Telecom, VivaCell, the Harmony Fund, and the Armenian Research Educational
Networking Association (ARENA) Foundation are working together to provide
the necessary technologies, infrastructure, and knowledge to power HyeBridge
Telehealth.
