CYPRIOT PRESIDENT SATISFIED WITH VISIT TO ARMENIA

Yerevan, 7 Jul: President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris
Christofias [Dhimitrios Khristofias] said he was satisfied with
and touched by his visit to Armenia, noting that his meetings set
the foundations for the further multilateral deepening of relations
between the two countries.
"Our political relations are excellent. What is needed is to deepen the
economic, cultural and tourist relations between the two countries,"
he pointed out.
President Christofias said "we have laid the foundations" and expressed
hope that soon there would be an exchange of businesspeople and
state officials.
"We are returning very satisfied with and touched by this visit,"
he said.
Speaking after a visit to religious sites, President Christofias said
the Armenian monuments are the cultural heritage of all humankind,
adding that "the fates of the people of Cyprus and Armenia are linked."
Before departing for Cyprus, President Christofias had a working
breakfast with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and a working lunch with
Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian. Later on a farewell
ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace and President Serzh
Sargsyan hosted a private dinner in honour of President Christofias.
