ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING OF NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL OF ARMENIA OPENS

YEREVAN, JULY 13, NOYAN TAPAN. The solemn unveiling ceremony of the
administrative building of the National Security Council of Armenia
took place on July 10, in the address of Baghramian 24, Yerevan. Before
it, the Council was placed in the Armenian President’s residence. RA
President Serzh Sargsyan participated in the ceremony.
NSC Secretary Artur Baghdasarian stated that the structure has had
a serious role during the past year. Various issues, particularly,
issues relating to actvities of reviewing the RA defence strategy,
cooperation with international structures, Armenia’s chairing at
the CSTO, political cooperation with the European Union, individual
partnership with the NATO, Armenia-Turkey, Armenia-Iran relations,
program of construction of a new nuclear energy block in the RA,
working out of the most important conceptions for the country, national
programs and strategies, foreign and internal policy were discussed at
10 meetings of the Council. The Council staff was founded. Baghdasarian
stated that during this year the NSC established practical ties with
corresponding structures of the CSTO member states, Near East and a
number of European countries, memoranda on cooperation were signed
with the Security Councils of the Russian Federation and the Republic
of Belarus, memoranda on cooperation will be also signed in the future
with the Security Councils of Italy, France, the Islamic Republic of
Iran and other countries.
Council staff head Artashes Avoyan informed the journalists that
the building construction was implemented with about 600 mln drams
budget means.
The Council will have 90 employees.
