YEREVAN, JULY 13, ARMENPRESS: Armenian President Serzh Sargsian
received July 11 the first assistant to the USA Secretary of State
James Steinberg and the delegation headed by him which included the
Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon, Ambassador of the USA to
Armenia Marie Jovanovich and other officials.

Presidential Press office told Armenpress that greeting the
top-official the Armenian President said: "Armenian stresses the
importance of the further development of the relations with the USA
and regards your visit from this standpoint".

The head of the republic expressed gratitude to the USA Government for
multilateral support provided to our state ever since the independence.

Discussing the prospects of development of Armenian-American
relations the sides have stressed the wish and readiness to promote
the cooperation in different spheres.

Serzh Sargsian highly assessed the unique attitude of the United
States towards the local Armenian community. The American Armenians
have been mentioned to be the bridging link between the two states.

The interlocutors have exchanged thoughts on the security issues
of the region, Armenia-turkey relations as well as Nagorno Karabakh
conflict regulation.

The top-official from the USA administration conveyed the address
of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the Armenian President
Serzh Sargsian.
