Spinal surgery has been delayed for former UNLV basketball coach Jerry
Tarkanian.
Danny Tarkanian said his father’s blood is too thin for an
operation. Doctors will monitor Jerry Tarkanian over the next few
days.
Tarkanian, 78, had been scheduled for a 90-minute procedure, to remove
a bone spur that is pressing his spinal cord, this morning at Scripps
Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Calif.
Last week, he broke two ribs in a Jacuzzi and broke a shoulder in
separate falls at his summer home in Pacific Beach, near San Diego.
Tarkanian has been dealing with pain, especially when he walks, for
several years, and Danny Tarkanian said his father is relieved that
the operation could allow him to walk without irritation.
