ARMENIAN PRIME MINISTER: SOUTH CAUCASUS RAILWAY LAUNCHES AN INTERESTING PROGRAM CONNECTED WITH REST AT LAKE SEVAN

ArmInfo. CJSC South Caucasus Railway (SCR) is launching an
unprecedented program in Armenia, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran
Sargsyan told journalists in Yerevan, Wednesday. According to him,
the company offers people to have a rest at Lake Sevan. In this
connection, SCR opened a Yerevan- Shorzha , which includes 2-day
stay in carriages in Sevan. "If you compare this opportunity with
other variants, you’ll make sure that SCR proposal is more profitable
from the financial viewpoint",- the prime minister said and expressed
confidence that thousands of Armenian citizens will give the preference
to this variant.

To note, the Armenian Railway is the branch of Russian Railway
OJSC. The term of the concession management is 30 years, and it may
be prolonged for 20 more years. In 2009 it is envisaged to invest
71.5 mln USD in development of Armenian railway. The financial means
will be spent on purchase and modernization of the existent train,
purchase of the necessary facilities and equipment. At present the
total volume of SCR CJSC in the Armenian railway network made up about
107.3 mln USD. According to the concessional agreement, investments
are to amount to 580 mln USD with distribution throughout the whole
period of concession.
