ARMENIA SETS UP HQ TO PROBE TEHRAN-YEREVAN PLANE CRASH

Yerevan, 15 July: A special headquarters to probe into the causes of
the crash of the plane of an Iranian air company, Caspian Airlines,
which was carrying out a Tehran-Yerevan flight today, has been set
up at the General Department of Civic Aviation of Armenia [GDCAA],
the GDCAA’s secretary-general, Nelly Cherchinyan, told the Mediamax
news agency.

She said 153 passengers and 15 crew members were on board of the
plane. They all died according to preliminary reports. Cherchinyan
said that the plane had left Tehran at 1209 local time [0739 gmt]
and crashed 16 minutes later.
