ROLE OF PUBLIC DIPLOMACY IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT RESOLUTION DISCUSSED

A roundtable meeting entitled Future of Karabakh future of peacemaking
initiatives was held at the Strategic Studies Center under the
President of Azerbaijan.

The meeting initiated by UK`s International Alert discussed
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and role of peacemaking initiatives and
public diplomacy.

The event brought together some 30 political scientists, MPs,
specialists for international relations, International Alert
representatives and others.

Participants discussed current situation in the conflict zone and
measures to rebuild mutual trust between both societies if progress is
achieved. Experts supported participation of Azerbaijani community in
the processes. They stressed the need for international organizations
to enhance their attention towards the problem.

Participants agreed the public diplomacy and peacemaking initiatives
must be long-term.
