A total of 136 dead bodies of the victims of the Iranian jet which
crashed in northwest Iran have been given to their families, an
official says.
`According to the latest information from the coroner’s office, 136
bodies out of the 168 victims of the Tupolev crash have so far been
given to their families," Ahmad Majidi, Head of the Crisis Working
Group of Iran’s Roads and Transportation Ministry, told Fars news
agency on Saturday morning.
`Seven bodies of foreign nationals and 25 Iranian nationals are still
in the coroner’s office," he added.
`A delegation from Armenia is scheduled to arrive in Iran to collect
the bodies of the two Armenian nationals," he explained.
According to Majidi, the Iranian police will give the bodies of
foreign nationals after co-coordinating with the Georgian and Armenian
foreign ministries and officials.
The Caspian Airlines aircraft crashed in Iran on Wednesday on its way
to Armenia, after reportedly catching fire mid-air and plunging into
farmlands killing all 168 people on board just 16 minutes after
take-off.
Seven passengers were foreign citizens from Armenia and Georgia and
the rest were Iranians.
