The Public Peacemaking Forum on the peaceful solution to Nagorno
Karabakh conflict scheduled for July has been postponed.
International Alert, the forum’s organizer, said the meeting will be
held in autumn.
The forum decided to avoid the politicization of the public dialogue
on the backdrop of the intensification of the negotiations over the
conflict solution. The International Alert said the negotiations were
intensified recently.
"Many in the region welcome development of the process, but
intensification creates fears and concerns in the society. The public
peacemaking forum is not a political process, but the political
situation has an impact on the public peace and people’s diplomacy as
well. We don’t intend to allow the politicization of the dialogue. Our
Public Peacemaking Forum could protect its non-political essence so
far", said the International Alert in a statement and added that the
postponement of the forum until the autumn would allow elaboration
of more exact format and agenda.
