On July 25-26, Krakow will host the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs’
working visit to organize the autumn meeting between the Azerbaijani
and Armenian Presidents, Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sargsyan, Russian
Co-Chair Yuriy Merzlyakov told Trend News.

"I hope that it will be possible to gain achievement in a meeting in
Chisinau in early October which could not gained at the presidents’
Moscow meeting," Merzlyakov said in a telephone conversation from
Moscow.

In early October, Chisinau will host a regular summit of heads of
the CIS states.

One cannot consider a bilateral meeting of the presidents in Moscow
in isolation from the tripartite meeting with the Russian President
Medevedev, Merzlyakov believes.

"I think it has been possible to find some very interesting possible
interchanges in these meetings, at least some of the issues that
caused the parties’ differences. There are interesting solutions,
which the three presidents reached together. I think it can yield a
positive fruit in future," he said.

Merzlyakov said the Minsk Group co-chairs will visit the region
to prepare the next meeting between the Armenian and Azerbaijani
presidents in the second half of September.

Yuri Merzlyakov added that the Russian and American Co-Chairs of the
Minsk Group will be substituted this year. "US Co-Chair of the Minsk
Group Matthew Bryza will make his last visit to the region in this
capacity," Merzlyakov said.

"I hope that after seven years of service as Russian Co-Chair of the
Minsk Group I’ll be allowed to leave the post. I think it will take
place this year," Merzlyakov said.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
