ARMENIAN PRESIDENT SERZH SARGSYAN RECEIVES THE ADB VICE-PRESIDENT XIAOYU ZHAO AND THE DELEGATION ACCOMPANYING HIM

YEREVAN, JULY 23, ARMENPRESS: Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan
received today Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB)
Xiaoyu Zhao and the delegation accompanying him.

Presidential press office told Armenpress that the President of
the Republic with gratification underscored the quickly developing
cooperation with ADP. The head of the country welcomed the quick
response of the bank and interest in such extended transportation
projects, like North-South highway and North-South railway, Yerevan
urban transport development.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan expressed gratitude for the support
of 80 million USD provided to the Armenian government by the bank
for smoothing the consequences of the global financial crisis and
implementation of the intended projects.

Vice-President Zhao said that ADB is interested in developing
long-lasting partner relations with Armenia. Highly assessing the
established cooperation between the bank and the Armenian government
he said that he has observed the joint projects being implemented
in the spheres of the restoration of rural roads, water supply and
sewerage and is impressed by their process.

The Vice-President also assured that ADB is ready to support Armenia
hereafter to overcome the difficulties arisen in the result of
the crisis.

Attaching importance to the implementation of large scaled
infrastructural projects the sides shared the same viewpoint that
they are a serious impetus for the development of the country. They
also regarded the implementation of joint projects in the private
sector as prospective.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan attached vital importance to the
country’s cooperation with international financial institutions not
only from the viewpoint of involving financial sources, but also –
of the experience, working culture that they import to Armenia.
