TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned western sanctions
on its civilian aircraft, reminding that the move is a violation of
human rights.
"There is no logical reason for sanctions, and sanctions against
civilian aircraft is a breach of human rights," the ministry spokesman,
Hassan Qashqavi said in a gathering in Gilan province, in northern
Iran on Wednesday.
Meantime, Qashqavi reiterated that Iran has gained great achievements
in the aerospace industry despite sanctions.
"Yet, this does not remove the responsibility of the owners of airplane
spare-parts that refuse presenting them to Iran," he underlined.
He made the remarks referring to the crash of a Russian made Tupolev
jet which was heading from Tehran to the Armenian capital, Yerevan
16 minutes after take-off from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International
Airport with 168 on board.
Noting that the reason for the incident is under investigation,
the spokesman lamented, "The reality is we need new airplanes in our
air fleet."
