THE REGULAR SESSION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE ARMENIAN NATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS FUND TAKES PLACE

YEREVAN, AUGUST 3, ARMENPRESS: The regular session of the Board of
Trustees of the Armenian National Competitiveness Fund chaired by the
head of the board, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, took place August
1 and 2.

Public relations department of the Armenian government told Armenpress
that the issues of the session agenda included the presentation of
the new project package and its discussion, the specification of the
sub-spheres of the fund’s activity, the initiatives to be implemented
in educational sphere, etc.

The sub-spheres of 4 approaches of the Armenian National
Competitiveness Fund – tourism, health care, education and support
spheres, were specified. A package of project proposals is intended
for each sphere.

In tourism sphere the fund’s works will be focused around 4 Armenian
geographical routs. The 3-year project "Tatev’s Renaissance and
Reconstruction" has been in process since the beginning of the year,
the main objective of which is to develop the tourism in the south
direction of the country.

A nuclear medicine center is planned to set up serving the selected
two directions. The development of sub-spheres of higher educational
establishments, high schools and pedagogical education will be in
the center of the attention of the foundation in education sphere.

The special working discussion was dedicated to education
issues. Armenian Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan,
head of the Armenian Office of the World Bank Aristomene Varudakis,
Director of the fund "Luys" Zhaklin Karaaslanyan and partner of the
company "McKinsey&Co" Avetik Chalabyan delivered speeches.

Executive Director of the Armenian National Competitiveness Fund
Bekor Papazyan presented the concept of setting up a science and
education development complex, which received an initial approval. A
decision was made to work out an integral project package to present
and discuss at the next session.
