The military aims of the United States include three spheres:
energetic, democratic and security. For example, if the security of
Nagorno-Karabakh is not assured there will not be economic
investments, stated the assistant of the U.S. deputy state secretary
Mathew Bryza in Tsakhkadzor.

Bryza stated that he is surprised that the Armenian and Azerbaijani
press accuse the Minsk group co-chairs of forcing compromises to the
sides. In reality, they do not make any repression but only mediate.

According to Bryza, there will not be any settlement without mutual
compromises. There will not be agreement, if even the smallest
questions are not settled. The settlement of the question may be based
on territorial integrality and non-use of force. This may seem
contradictory at first sight, but the sides adopted a resolution,
which is reflected in the principles of Madrid. After the return of
the Azerbaijani refuges, a referendum has to be held the result of
which has to be legal. The time of the referendum has to be set by the
Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents, stated Bryza.

According to the Minsk group co-chairs if Armenia recognizes the
Nagorno-Karabakh independence all the chances for the peace settlement
will disappear. In answer to the question which is the reason why the
U.S. recognized the Kosovo independence, but not that of
Nagorno-Karabakh, Bryza stated that they are different issues.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
