The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Voronezh has found Alexander
Chalenko, 22, guilty of causing heavy health damage to a native of
Armenia and sentenced him to 4 years and 10 months of imprisonment.

Let us note that attacks on natives of the Caucasus were committed
earlier in Voronezh. Thus, in the end of July this year another man
was sentenced in Voronezh for beating an Azerbaijani teenager. For
his crime committed back in July 2007 he was sentenced to 3 years
and 1 month of imprisonment.

The court has found out that in the evening on September 2, 2008,
in the Zheleznodorozhny District, a native of Armenia, 25, and a
citizen of Russia was accompanying his girlfriend home. They were
approached by a group of teenagers aged 16-20, who, having offered
the Caucasian to leave Russia, started beating him. This was reported
by the "Interfax" with reference to the statement of Sergey Glaziev,
senior assistant to the head of the regional department of Russian ICPO
(Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor’s Office) of the Russian
Federation, promulgated on August 7.

According to the investigation, Alexander Chalenko, informal leader of
the grouping of teenagers, knifed the victim several times, causing a
heavy damage to his health, as reported by the "Voronezh Media" Agency.

Alexander Chalenko was convicted under part 2, Article 111, of
the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Wilful infliction of
heavy damage to one’s health on the motive of national hatred") and
sentenced to 4 years and 10 months of imprisonment in a general-regime
corrective colony.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
