As of August 1, 2009 11,076 babies were born in Yerevan. Leading
specialist of the Health Ministry’s Mother and Child Health Protection
Department Gayane Avagyan told Armenpress that from August 1-12,
751 babies were born in Yerevan.

The system of providing certificates of bearing assistance to
the pregnant women continues functioning. The Health Ministry is
periodically conducting monitoring both in Yerevan maternity houses
and those in the provinces. The leading specialist said works are
being carried out to increase the level of awareness of future
mothers. "The results of the monitoring show that the system is
operating effectively, both pregnant women and doctors praise the
system. No issues have been created," Avagyan assured.

The system of providing certificates of bearing assistance to the
pregnant women functions from July 6 2008.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
