ARMENIAN BUENOS AIRES PROGRAM LAUNCHES IN BUENOS AIRES

YEREVAN, AUGUST 13, NOYAN TAPAN. The event entitled Armenian
Buenos Aires launched on August 10, 2009 on the initiative of the
Commission for the Preservation of Historic Cultural Heritage of
Argentine Ministry of Culture, RA Embassy in Buenos Aires and Armenian
communitie. The aim of this historic-cultural program implemented by
Buenos Aires government is to show the role of Armenians residing
in Buenos Aires in the cultural, economic, public and humanitarian
fields, as well as to present the Armenian people’s history, reasons
for Armenians’ immigration to Argentina and their achievements within
the last century as the citizens of Argentina.

According to the Press and Public Relations Department of the RA
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the opening ceremony of the Armenian
Buenos Aires program took place in the ancient building of the first
Argentinean Republic Parliament.

Leticia Maronese, the Secretary General for the Preservation of
Historic Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, the Deputy
Chairman of National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia
and Racism Pedro Muradian, the Director General of the Heritage and
History Institute Liliana Barela and RA Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary to Argentina Vladimir Karmirshalyan presented the
opening speech.

The Armenian Buenos Aires program which includes The Immigration
of Armenians to Buenos Aires, Armenians and Religion, Genocide and
Negation, The role of Armenian Woman in Society, Armenian Press,
Armenian Art, Armenian Cuisine and other themes, will end with a
concert of community ensembles.
