YEREVAN (news.am)-Armenia’s deputy Diaspora minister Stepan Petrosyan
called on the Armenian business community to invest in Javakhk in
an effort to curtail immigration from Georgia’s Armenian-populated
region to Armenia.
He urged the business community to make investments, as a result
of which employment opportunities would increase. He said, the main
reason for the large number of immigrants from Javakhk was the poor
economic condition in the region.
He also added that the Diaspora Ministry did its utmost to involve
Javakhk Armenians in all of its programs.
Petrosyan also addressed concerns that the Georgian authorities had
banned educational books and other supplies to Javakhk.
He said that the matter was being addressed by the education and
foreign ministries.
"We hope the problem will be resolved. There is no Armenian literature
in Georgia. What is the ban aimed at?" he said.
