YEREVAN, AUGUST 21, ARMENPRESS: Today at the government the first
session of the Council for coordinating the implementation works of
the Sustainable Development Program (SDP) was held, chaired by the
head of the council, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
Public relations department of the Armenian government told Armenpress
that by the Prime Minister’s decision the working regime and staff of
the Coordinating Council has been confirmed, where 10 representatives
of RA executive and legislative bodies, as well as 11 representatives
of civil society are represented. The latter are involved in all
the bodies of the program management by the principle of a dominant
participation. The representatives of the main international donor
institutions presented in Armenia permanently participate in the
works of the Coordinating Council.
The first issue of the agenda referred to the "Short-Term Program on
2010-2011 Policies". A proposal has been made to work out a "Short-Term
Program on 2010-2011 Policies" based on the program of the government
on anti-crisis events, as well as on the reform directions intended
by the Sustainable Development Program and political activities of the
European neighborhood policy. It will ensure a basis of social-economic
planning for working out government’s separate sphere projects and RA
state budget. Being the appendix of SDP, it will sum up the anti-crisis
policies and will appear as a basis for the state budget.
It is intended that the "Short-Term Program on 2010-2011 Policies" will
mainly have a strategic nature. The drafting and the implementation
of the project will be realized under SDP management system, which
suggests an appliance of participation and reporting principles. The
support of the civil society and donor public is anticipated in
these works.
The staff and working regime of the working group coordinating
the running works of the Sustainable Development Program have been
discussed and confirmed at the session. The main goal of the working
group is the efficient arrangement of the program running works and
ensuring of its monitoring.
Nine representatives from the management bodies and 10 from the civil
society are involved in the working group. It will be headed by Deputy
Economy Minister.
