FNC SPEAKER, ARMENIAN AMBASSADOR DISCUSS PARLIAMENTARY RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES

WAM Abu Dhabi, Aug 24th, 2009 (WAM): Speaker of the Federal National
Council (FNC) Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair and the Armenian
ambassador to UAE Vahagn Melikian discussed today, ways for enhancing
relations and cooperation between the two countries, especially in
the field of parliamentary affairs.
They also reviewed the mechanisms that guarantee the development
of relations between UAE and Armenia in the avenues of tourism and
investment by tapping the vast resources of both countries in these
sectors.
During the meeting held at the FNC headquarters here, Al Ghurair gave
a review of the parliamentary development in the UAE and the various
milestones it has crossed.
He shed light on the general elections made to the FNC in 2006 and
the recent constitutional amendments, which gave the parliament more
powers. This reflected the keenness of the leadership to support the
FNC and create the environment for all the citizens to participate
in the parliamentary life, Al Ghurair said.
The Armenian envoy hailed the growth and development of UAE in
various fields, thanks to the support given by the leadership by
harnessing every potential and making the country a model for others
in the region.
