RA National Security Council denies information released on
Sept. 2 by Georgian media on exchange of fire at Armenian-Georgian
border. "This information is untrue. No incidents were reported from
Armenian-Georgian border," Armenian Security Council stated.
NEWS.am informed earlier today, that Caucasus Press reported 3 Georgian
frontier guards were killed at the Georgian-Turkish border gate today,
September 2. The incident occurred at the Akhaltsikhe part of the
border. The three guards were reported dead and one missing. The
cause of the conflict is yet unclear. The missing guard is being
traced. The police refrains from comments.
The Georgian Frontier Police confirmed the death of three Georgian
border guards at the Akhaltsikhe part of Georgian-Turkish border
gate. They informed: "The homicide occurred not far from the first
sector. Three frontier guards were found dead, the forth one fled
from the spot. According to investigators, the missing one could have
committed the crime. However, it is not officially confirmed yet,
the murderous impulse is unknown too. The missing frontier guard is
wanted by the police."
Meanwhile, Georgian Internal Ministry Spokesman Shota Khizanishvili
said that the incident occurred at the Armenian-Georgian border. "This
morning, three assassinated military men were detected at a check
point near Georgian-Armenian border in Adigeni district. No additional
information is available at the moment. Law enforcement bodies work
at the spot," Khizanishvili declared.
