Azerbaijani Public TV
Sept 3 2009

[Presenter] Baku hopes that Turkey will not take steps contradicting
Azerbaijan’s interests and senior officials of this country will at
least keep their promises given in Azerbaijan and Turkey, the head
of the foreign relations department of the Azerbaijani presidential
administration, Novruz Mammadov, said in an interview with "Carci"
[news programme]. He also commented on an article about Azerbaijan
in the Turkish Bu Gun daily.

[Passage omitted: Azeri, Turkish foreign ministers had a telephone
conversation]

[Novruz Mammadov] For both Turkey and Azerbaijan this is a little
test, and they will successfully pass this test of their friendship,
brotherhood, and strategic partnership. No matter what steps Armenia,
sources and circles in Armenia, their foreign minions and underlings
take, their steps will have no real impact. That is, their wishes
will never come true.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
