RA Minister of Diaspora meets with heads of Armenian diplomatic
missions in other states

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 4, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. The RA Minister of
Diaspora Ms. Hranush Hakobian delivered a speech at the September 2
annual meeting of the heads of Armenian diplomatic missions in other
states.

According to the Press and PR Department of the RA Ministry of
Diaspora, H. Hakobian said that throughout a year of its work, the
Ministry of Diaspora has not had any problem related to cooperation
with the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She presented the work done by the Ministry of Diaspora and proposed
some important programs to be implemented in cooperation with the
embassies of the Republic of Armenia in the communities of the Diaspora.

From the viewpoint of developing the Armenia-Diaspora cooperation, she
attached special importance to the inclusion of the notion of "the
Armenian Diaspora" in the RA Constitution, the stipulation of the
institution of dual citizenship in the legislation and the creation of
legal bases for its application, and the implementation of the Concept
of the Development of the Armenia-Diaspora Cooperation. The priorities
of the ministry are the preservation of Armenian identity, the
identification of Armenian potential, and the promotion of
repatriation. The minister spoke about the programs and projects on the
creation of a database of the Diaspora communities, the studies on
history of Diaspora colonies, the organization of all-Armenian forums,
and the assistance to Diaspora communities. She informed the Armenian
diplomats about Ari Tun Program envisaging regular visits of young
Diaspora Armenians to Homeland, Hayern Aysor electronic paper of the
ministry, and the program of videoconferences.

H. Hakobian underlined the importance of the cultural programs aimed at
making unorganized communities in the Diaspora well-organized,
extending the network of one-day Armenian schools and improving the
quality of education there. She urged the diplomats to support the
formation of Councils of Friends of the Ministry of Diaspora, adding
that these structures in their turn will facilitate the work of the
diplomatic missions. She announced that a representative body of all
the Armenians – the National Council will be established in the near
future.
