Two Iranian plays to compete at Armenian HIGH FEST

TEHRAN — Two Iranian plays will be performed at the 7th HIGH FEST
International Performing Arts Festival, scheduled to be held in
Yerevan from October 1-10.
`Poor Lear’, an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s `King Lear’ and
his `Romeo and Juliet’ both will be directed by Hossein Jamali, actor
Majid Rahmati told the Persian service of Fars on Sunday.
A fusion of several different styles of traditional Iranian dramatic
arts will be used in performing the plays, he added.
`Poor Lear’ will be staged by a troupe comprised of five actors and
`Poor Lear’ is a monolog, which will be performed by Rahmati.
Many works from all genres of the performing arts including mime,
circus, street performances, puppet, dance, opera will also be
competing at the festival.
