14:32 / 09/09/2009"As there is no factual document on Armenia’s
involvement in Nabucco, this project can be reckoned theoretically. It
is possible only through a political decision," Advisor to RA National
Assembly Speaker, (Ph.D. in Economics) Dr. Tatul Manaseryan told
NEWS.am.
Recently international experts started to discuss Armenia’s involvement
in Nabucco project along with the possible Armenia-Turkey border
opening. In that case the pipeline could be laid through Armenia’s
territory instead of Georgia.
Asked what Armenia should do to achieve this and what price it has
to pay, Dr. Manaseryan said: "Presently Armenia does not have to do
anything. The benefit Armenia will have with involvement in Nabucco
is evident. Armenia might become informal participant with the
following consequences: firstly, the expenses for pipeline and fuel
transportation will decrease, and secondly, bypassing any country that
might benefit from the regional project conflicts any economic law
and principles. As for the price Armenia has to pay for involvement
in Nabucco, is up to political analysts," Manaseryan concluded.
