"I think that the Armenian-Turkish Protocols must be discussed by
political forces, with the participation of the Armenian President
and Minister of Foreign Affairs, without any time limits," stated
Aram Sargsyan Chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia (DPA).

He considers parliamentary discussions of the Protocols too early,
as some of the points, particularly the one on mutual recognition of
borders, are "unacceptable." "The Foreign Office must prevent this
wording from being incorporated in the document," Sargsyan said. He
also regards as unacceptable the discussion of the Armenian Genocide
by a commission of historians or at any other level. The DPA leader
stressed the need for amendments to the Protocols. "If the political
forces’ proposals are rejected, they have the right to apply to the
people and get the document amended with their help. The authorities
must realize it," Sargsyan said.
