Since January 1 of 2009 till 14 September the Road Traffic Police has
recorded 20 457 cases of rule breaking which is more than the last
year’s by 9382, Norik Sargsyan, the head of RA Road Traffic Police,
stated today.
He mentioned that 1646 of the rules breaking were because of not
fastening the seatbelts.
"Though we think our drivers are breaking the rules all the time,
today we can find such violations of rules with difficulty. It is
really difficult to find unfastened drivers. If we keep that control
we will have a result at the end of the year", – said Sargsyan.
He also informed that the cases of body-injuries in the Republic
have been reduced with 153, the number of death with 46, the injured
with 279. There have been recorded 1457 accidents till September 14,
2008, 265 dead, 2109 injured. Norik Sargsyan informed that this year
on September 14, 2009 there have been recorded 1304 accidents, 219
victims, 1230 injured.
"I don’t know who has been saved, but the fact is that 50 people have
been rescued. At the end of the year we will record that the road
traffic police has rescued 70-80 people as a result of his work", –
mentioned the head of the RA Road Traffic Police.
"Actually it is obvious when the driver is just putting the seatbelt
on his shoulder and is not fastening it. It is actually not for us,
but for them first of all", – said Sargsyan adding that nobody should
hope for not being checked after 10 days.
Besides checking the seatbelts the road traffic police will also start
checking the phone speaking while driving and control the tradition
of the passengers of crossing the streets from wrong places.
As for the women drivers Norik Sargsyan said that they do less rule
violations, they keep the rules more than the men do.
As for the traffic jams the head of the Road Traffic Police said
that during the last 2 years the only idea of traffic jams has been
vanished, there is a slow move instead he sated.
