YEREVAN, September 16, /ARKA/. The Hayastan (Armenia) Fund has
initiated construction of a milk collection station in the village
of Azatamut, Tavush province, Fund executive director Ara Vardanian
told a news conference today.
He said one of the major problems of farmers in remote areas is how
to sell their produces. That was why the Fund has initiated a set of
measures to solve this and other pressing problems.
Ara Vardanian said the milk collection station will buy milk from
farmers in 11 villages of the province and resell it to a large
dairy company. He said also that the Fund has designed a small credit
program designed to boost agricultural development in remote villages
but credits will be available in five months.
Since its inception in 1992 the Armenia Fund has raised about over
$185 million dollars for large infrastructure development projects
in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. M.M.
