LEVON TER-PETROSSYAN: THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT THE NEGATIVE TENDENCIES IN THE NAGORNO-KARABAKH PEACE PROCESS IS TO CHANGE GOVERNMENT

ArmInfo. The only way to prevent the negative tendencies in the
Nagorno-Karabakh peace process is to change the government, the
leader of the Armenian National Congress, the first president of
Armenia Levon Ter-Petrossyan said during an opposition rally today.
There are two government change scenarios. The first scenario:
Serzh Sargsyan resigns on his own will. He has got so confused in
his search for own legitimacy that he will not be able to dismiss an
imposed document.
The second scenario: Sargsyan is forced to resign by a mass wave
of public displeasure. The ANC is not able to do this alone. So,
Ter-Petrossyan has urged other political forces to join their
movement. "We are the only political force calling for change
of government and conduct of mid-term election. The future of
Nagorno-Karabakh depends on whether we will change the government or
not," Ter-Petrossyan said.
The ANC does not need power if Nagorno-Karabakh is lost. But
if Sargsyan resigns he will not run for new office. "I will
run for presidency only if Robert Kocharyan decides to do it,"
Ter-Petrossyan said. He said that he was an instrument for restoration
of constitutional order in Armenia and was ready to carry on his
mission to the end.
The ANC has not said when it would rally again. The authorities have so
far dismissed hundreds of the ANC’s requests and now all of a sudden
they have allowed it to hold six rallies in a row. Perhaps, before
the PACE session the regime wants to show that there is freedom of
assembly in Armenia or Serzh Sargsyan is just going to draw the ANC
in some dirty game.
