None Armenian historian agree to start discussing the Armenian Genocide
in Ottoman Empire, turkologist Ruben Melkonyan told journalists in
Yerevan today.

"Mechanisms of the proposed subcommittee that must deal with historical
issues between Armenia and Turkey, should be classified. For example,
the question arises, how the agenda of the subcommittee should be
defined? " the turkologist emphasized.

He mentioned, that Turkey, of course, in every way will try to include
the issue of the Armenian Genocide in the agenda of discussions. "They
can offer to study the Ottoman archives, which they consider to be
their trump card against the Armenian side.

But, it is known, that the documents stored in the Ottoman archives
and prove the fact of the Armenian Genocide, have been destroyed ",
Mr. Melkonyan said.

According to him, in the Armenian-Turkish relations apart from the
Armenian Genocide, there are a lot of other historical issues remaining
closed to research.

"I want to note that no commission has the authority to decide if
there was the genocide in the Ottoman Empire or not," the turkologist
stressed.
