Republican Party of Armenia Spokesperson Edurad Sharmazanov is
surprised by the view held by those political bodies who have always
been against including the Genocide issue in the foreign policy agenda.

"In particular, those people who were once the governing
authority. When I read articles they themselves wrote 10-12 years ago,
they were using very different adjectives in making assessments of
those political forces who were speculating on this issue," Eduard
Sharmazanov stated.

He also expressed surprise at the fact that, during the rally,
Armenian first president Levon Ter-Petrossian didn’t speak about the
intergovernmental commission but about a commission of historians,
"when we know that it is clearly stated in the Protocols that there
is no commission of historians."

"It is very surprising for me that people speak about denial of
the Armenian Genocide, understanding very well that both Armenia’s
president and foreign minister have numerously, on different
platforms, announced that for us the Genocide issue is not a subject
for bargaining," Sharmazanov stated.

"This is a very delicate issue and one shouldn’t play with the nation’s
feelings. Both the Armenian-Turkish issue and the Nagorno-Karabakh
issue are those issues, which need sober thought," concluded the
RPA secretary.
