The opening ceremony of the statue of Sparapet and victim of the
terrorist acts of October 27 Vazgen Sargsyan was held yesterday in
the city of Ararat.

The white cloth was lowered by Sargsyan’s parents, head of the Ararat
region and the mayor. The statue was installed on the platform where
supposedly Vazgen Sargsyan had first called on his fellow Armenians
to serve as volunteers in the fight for Artsakh.

"I feel proud, although I suffer from the loss," said Vazgen Sargsyan’s
mother Mrs. Greta, crying.

The statue was sculpted by Arayik Alekyan who told "A1+":

"I put the rebellious spirit of Vazgen in the statue and presented him
as an artist and a political figure. I don’t know if I accomplished
that or not."

Citizens of Ararat were very happy to finally see the Sparapet’s
perpetual return to their city.

"This was a great present for us. We are very happy to see our Sparapet
home," said citizen of Ararat Matevos Iskandaryan.

Participating in the opening ceremony were NA Chairman Hovik
Abrahamyan, Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan, but they didn’t
make speeches.

The Sparapet’s brother, leader of the "Republic" party Aram Sargsyan
didn’t participate in the opening of the statue. The office of the
"Republic" party didn’t tell us why Aram Sargsyan couldn’t answer
our questions today.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
