IF SERGE SARGSYAN DOES NOT GO TO GAREGIN

The All Armenian Catholicos Garegin II finally appeared on the stage
of the Armenian and Turkish discussions. Perhaps, in this connection
their role played those observations which were heard in address of
the Catholicos because of his silence after the letter of His Holiness
Aram I Catholicos of Cilicia addressed to Serge Sargsyan. But if Aram
I sent Serge Sargsyan a letter of concern with regards to the
Armenian-Turkish relations, Garegin II, which was quite expectable,
has no worry and he even assists and blesses Serge Sargsyan who voiced
his intention to visit Armenian Diaspora to learn the opinion of the
Armenians from Diaspora on the Armenian and Turkish relations.

Strangely, it is not Serge Sargsyan to go to the Catholicos for his
blessing before leaving but it is the Catholicos to visit Serge
Sargsyan. And besides, blessing and expressing his support the
Catholicos did not seem to have said anything else in those TV reports
which were shown from the presidential residence. But this was quite
enough to understand that the Armenian Apostolic church this time
either does not have wish or courage to disagree with the Armenian
government even in relation to the mildly speaking worrying content of
the Armenian and Turkish protocols.

Moreover, as it was seen from the speech of the Catholicos, the church
is also ready to get engaged in the governmental propaganda and
contribute to the success of this work. The point is that Garegin II
promised to inform the Diasporian heads of the Armenian Apostolic
Church to participate in the organization of meetings.

What may this mean? This may mean that the church will just organize
these meetings where even concern will be voiced in connection with
the Armenian-Turkish protocols, but it will not be `uncontrolled’ in
order not to leave the impression that the meetings were too
organized.

After this, Serge Sargsyan probably is obvious to return to the
motherland with the `complete’ or `greatly’ `support’ or at least
`comprehension’ of the Diaspora. Hence, the force of the bless and
support of the All Armenian Catholicos will also be propagated.
