DELEGATION HEADED BY T. SARGSIAN TAKES PART IN THE WORKS OF
ARMENIAN-RUSSIAN INTER-GOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION FOR THE ECONOMIC
COOPERATION ISSUES
YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS: Delegation headed by Armenian Prime
Minister Tigran Sargsian is in the Yaroslavl province of Russian
Federation where the Armenian-Russian inter-governmental commission
for economic cooperation issues started its works.
Public relations department of Armenian Government told Armenpress
that before the session the face-to-face talk of Armenian Prime
Minister Tigran Sargsian and Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin
took place. Afterwards the co-chairs took part in the opening of 11th
plenary session of the Armenian-Russian inter-governmental commission.
The session was opened by the Russian Transport Minister Igor
Levitin who welcomed the participants of the session. He considered it
characteristic that the session of the inter-governmental commission
takes place in Yaroslavl as an international forum was held recently
in the same town where issues connected with overcoming the world
financial-economic crisis and international economic relations were
discussed. According to Russian Transport Minister the stability of
the global economy carries serious challenges.
In his speech addressed to the participants of the session the
Armenian Prime Minister, co-chairperson of the inter-governmental
commission Tigran Sargsian first expressed gratitude to the Russian
side for warm reception of the Armenian delegation and invitation to
take part in the events of the 1000th anniversary of Russian Yaroslavl
province.
Referring to bilateral economic cooperation the Prima Minister
noted: `Processes the Armenian economy undergoes are very similar to
those of the Russian economy. It is not accidental. Our economic
systems are interconnected and integrated. There are more than 1000
companies with Russian capital operating in Armenia. The energy system
and transport communication are integrated in the Russian economy.’

during the first semester the crisis caused a rather strong blow to
the economy, but today with cautious optimism we can notice tendencies
of economic growth. It means that the anti-crisis plan of the Armenian
Government gives results and expressed gratitude to the Russian
Government and Vladimir Putin for support which was directed towards
the anti-crisis events.
Passing to the agenda issues the participants of the session
discussed and made decisions on the process of implementation of the
protocol of the 20 October 2008 10th session of Armenian-Russian
inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation between the two
states, bilateral trade-economic relations, present condition and
prospects of development of the legal-agreement base, activity of the
enterprises transferred by Armenia to the Russian Federation instead
of the state debt, fuel-energy system, cooperation in transport,
culture and educational sphere.
The participants of the session positively assessed the works
conducted towards development of cooperation in energy, transport,
culture, education and other spheres.
The place and time of the 12th session of the commission will be
clarified through the diplomatic sources.
At the end of the session Igor Levitin conveyed the Armenian Prime
Minister the warm greetings of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Igor Levitin signed the Protocol of the 11th session of
Armenian-Russian inter-governmental commission after which the press
conference of the co-chairs of the commission took place.
The governmental delegation headed by Armenian Prime Minister
Tigran Sargsian will today evening return to Yerevan.
