Armenia’s National Assembly is due to hold hearings on the
Armenian-Turkish Protocols on October 1.
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF)-Dashnaktsutiun, which
stages a hunger -strike and sit-in in protest against the documents,
doesn’t inspire great hopes from the NA hearings.
"The situation is grave in the National Assembly. Majority has no
right to speak. The country is endangered and this is a problem the
whole national should care about. Sooner or later everyone will come
to realize that the country’s statehood is periled," ARF member Grigor
Matinian said to A1+.
"I think our MPs will sober up and will give a right assessment to
the Protocols. The National Assembly was to be the first to express an
opinion on the Protocols but as you see the parliament holds hearings
upon the initiative of the Dashnaktsutiun," says spokesman for the
ARF Supreme Body Areg Savgulian.
Remind: ARF stages a hunger strike in front of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and sit-in – near Government Building.
The strikers say the Protocols must convey preconditions set by the
Armenian side and not by Turkey. No borders can be reopened with Turkey
unless the latter recognizes the Armenian Genocide, Sever Treaty and
Karabakh independence, states the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.
