ISSUES CONCERNING THE SPECIAL SCHOOLS DISCUSSED

The RA Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan had a working
meeting with the Ms. Consuelo Vidal, UN Resident Coordinator / UNDP
Resident Representative and the head of the UNICEF Armenian office,
Mrs. Layli Moshiri-Gilani, informed the press office of the RA
Education and Science Ministry.
During the meeting the programs that are being realized in the
sphere of special education by the Armenian office of the UNO have
been discussed. The Minister highly appreciated the work done in
the direction of the defense of the children, and mentioned that the
amount of the events are, of course, impressive but there are a lot
of serious problems in the sphere of the special education.
"The problem of the defense of the children’s rights is important
in the frameworks of the improvement of the special schools. The
children are isolated form the society, which can serve good ground
for different kinds of exploitations. We should pay attention at
every child who needs a special education and we should do everything
to keep that educational institutions open for the society, and the
processes visible and transparent",- mentioned the Minister.
The guests were interested in the publications of press concerning
the special school N11 of Nubarashen. The Minister mentioned that
the main concern is in the legal field, and the investigation is
still in process. He informed that there has been a meeting with
the representatives of the public organizations and the directors
of the special schools where have been discussed the problems of the
special school.
"The created situation made us to pay more attention at the problems
of the special schools and as the rescores of the Ministry are not
enough to realize the complete control we applied, with a suggestion
of creating public controlling council, to all the public and
international organizations. Over 25 Organizations have responded to
the suggestion", – A. Ashotyan mentioned.
At the meeti ecial schools, their heating, preserving, the low salary
of the staff, and other questions.
