Levon Ter-Petrosyan addressed the conference of the Social Democratic
Hnchakyan party. He particularly said that the meeting is truly taking
part in a decisive period for Armenia which is sorrowful because
Armenia had to be a succeeded country by now. Levon Ter-Petrosyan
noted with sorrow that we have lost much time especially during
the last 10 years when the policy of Armenia has served only the
dictators to keep their illegalities. "There is no high-ranking
official in Armenia who does not have their own business. There is
no political prisoner in any of republics of the ex Soviet Union,
except Azerbaijan and countries of the Middle Asia and not counting
several Asian and African countries. Does it not weaken the Diaspora
and is it not ashamed of this fact in front of their compatriots
if we have to belong to the number of these countries? Why does
an Armenian have to speak with honor with a French or an American
if there are political prisoners in their homeland and whether it
is not the state that has to pay the price for this and it is indeed
paying. It is paying Turks, Azeris in form of yielding. I think that if
the Diaspora registered right the 2008 presidential elections and the
March 1 events that followed it, the fact of existence of political
prisoners and if it did not tolerate all this, but on the contrary
numerous Diasporian organizations supported the assassin government
of Armenia and in exchange, they got what we have now. I am happy to
notice that the Social Democratic Hnchakyan party does not belong to
these organizations. I am not calling on the Diaspora to intervene
in the home affairs of Armenia but Armenia and Diaspora must care for
each other’s home issues. It would enhance the responsibility of the
Armenian government.

I am sure our cooperation with the SDHP will last until we did not
reach our goals", said Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
